This is my brain on...

Quizzes tend to suck. We all tend to take them, even though they're usually poorly written, badly planned, and boring to take. This makes it extra-nice to find a good one, one that's fun to take.

This is my brain...

Auditory : 35%
Visual : 65%
Left : 57%
Right : 42%

Thistle, you are somewhat left-hemisphere dominant and show a preference for visual learning, although not extreme in either characteristic.

Your left-hemisphere dominance implies that your learning style is organized and structured, detail oriented and logical. Your visual preference, though, has you seeking stimulation and multiple data. Such an outlook can overwhelm structure and logic and create an almost continuous state of uncertainty and agitation. You may well suffer a feeling of continually trying to "catch up" with yourself.

I think the quiz is reasonably accurate, and probably gave better results than I would expect for a 20 question test. I really did enjoy taking it though, thinking about why I was picking this option over that one, pondering relationships, etc.

If you do take it, I suggest looking at the 'review questions' link. More interesting information there.

Bittersweet Potion update. Yay!

For those playing at home, Bittersweet Potion finally had an update. Woo woo! It's only one chapter, but at least it's something... And they have posted:

Sorry for the delay with the recent update- we were part of the staff for a pet show and had out of state guests over the holiday weekend. Don't worry, we'll be resuming our usual quick updates now!

So maybe we'll get the end of this story soon. Yay! (Well, not yay it ending, but yay more chapters. Need resolution! Need kitty!Harry and Snape to get back together!)

Edited to add: Apparently my story, The Unforgivable, has been accepted and posted at FA, as I just got a review on it. Funny, I didn't get an email saying it was up. (Second edit.) Just found it. Yep. Here it is. Looks like it went up the same time as the Crookshanks story did, I just didn't know it. Crookshanks has three comments and Unforgivable has only one. Hm. I figured the title of the Crookshanks one might be more attention-drawing. I guess maybe I was right.

A few hundred words.

This week's HP100 challenge was about graduation, exams, and other end-of-school foo. School seems a really distant thing to me, so I borrowed an idea from someone else to write about. (For those not in HP fanfic circles, a "plotbunny" is a story idea. Don't ask me where that came from, I have no idea.)

Also, I think I didn't post mine from the last week or two, but they're all on the page I made for them. Everything up to but excluding this week.

Madness sneaks up, strikes (Or: )

Oops, no images in the subject line:

Madness sneaks up, strikes (Or: )

I was watching Japanese TV last night. Nope, I don't speak a word of it, but I was watching it anyway. Advertisements came on. Some grocery store had an ad, and during the whole thing they showed their URL. Bored and curious, I went to the site.

http://www.maruwa.com/ (English: http://www.maruwa.com/index_e.html )

So, for some reason, I just started shopping. Now people who know me will be shocked and amazed; I don't eat odd American food (like lettuce, tomatoes, lobster, things like that), let alone foreign food if I have any choice in it, so what the heck was I buying Japanese food for?

Just curious, I guess...

I bought some things to send home to my mother (Gummy Kiwi, Tomato Pritz (pretzels?), Snow Pea Crisp). She'll be tickled, she loves foreign foods.

I bought one thing for a friend, and the rest I got for me. $40 of Japanese food, due to arrive tomorrow. I wonder if I'll be brave enough to try it, or if it'll just sit around staring at me till it rots?

I'll take pictures of the odder things and post them here. I'd also like to take weekly photos of the orange tree, now that it's actually making oranges... need to get off my butt and do that.
