*artistic!* (FFXI)

Know those baby/weight/wedding trackers? X days/pounds until Y event? Well I've been wanting a way to track my chocobo racing winnings to see if I'd ever recover all the money spent, and I couldn't find one of those pre-made ones that I could easily adapt, so I made my own! (And feel free to mock my squiggly lines. i iz not fotoshop xprt ; ; )

The line under the birdie is the marker, not his head or anything. And it was 3M for raising it then another 500K for the mission races... I wasn't sure if it was fair to include the mission races in the final figure needed to recover, but what the heck! It's my chart, so I can track whatever I want!

Also, before anyone goes 'I need to raise one to make money, too!' don't forget: 1) The 200 RL hours that can't be tracked on this. 2) That to race you need to pay money and time for the chocobucks needed to enter; each race attempt costs me about 34K gil and 2 RL hours.

I really should figure the money spent to buy my way into the race in my above figure, but that makes it get kind of mathy. :/ Maybe I'll make a spreadsheet or something to make it easier and more accurate. It took 7 races to make that 420K, so that's really... 238K to make 420K, so the chocobo should be on the 200K mark (182K). Wow, I lose half my progress if I count the money spent to make this money back. Boo. Wait, but if I place in the race I recover some/all bucks... yeah, going to need a spreadsheet or something.

Political stuff, skip if you feel like it.

I've been trying hard not to post about political crap lately. I don't like fighting with other people, I don't like making others feel bad, and posting about that stuff tends to do both of those things. This post will probably do it in spades. However, these damned arguments have been circling around in my head for days now, so maybe getting them written down will finally make it stop.

Final warning: If you do not agree with my view on things, you really should probably just skip the rest of this.

How many issues do I have with Palin? Let me count the ways...

1) She's an Evangelical Christian, which would be amazingly scary on its own.
2) She's so anti-choice that she doesn't even believe in abortion in the case of rape or danger to the mother. Excuse my language but: That's fucking sad.
3) She's a Creationist. If I had more power in this world, I would make a rule that no Creationist could hold a position of power in the government. Want to run something? Your church is thataway.
4) (Less than 10 years ago, she was a member of a group who believed that Alaska should leave the US and become its own country. Great US presidential material there! In parentheses because there's not firm confirmation on this.)

The Creationist thing kills me the most of those items. The overwhelming majority of scientists believe that Evolution is correct, but you (with your zero degrees in any of the sciences) feel you know better? How arrogant is that? "Yes, yes, the scientists have spent a decade or so in universities studying this, it became their life work since then... but I know better~!" I try very very hard never to think that there are people in the world like that. People with no advanced education, or a degree in some totally unrelated field, assuming they could possibly know better than people who have studied this all their lives. The fricking overwhelming majority of people who have studied this all their lives. What in the world could lead people to think they could know better than the experts? (This isn't even just political/religious stuff. My mother often says she knows medical stuff better than doctors do. That drives me insane.)

That's the same arrogance I find in anti-choice people. "I know better than you what to do with your body!" You don't believe in something? Don't do it. But hey, if we're going to tell other adults what to do with their bodies, then all you anti-choice people form a line over here. I'm going to get 'I love gay sex!' tattooed on you. How about hot pink ink and all caps? With a giant rainbow behind it? You have no issues with that, right? Since we're forcing our own personal opinions onto other adults' bodies?

And the irony, utter irony, of Palin's 17 year old daughter being pregnant. How's that 'don't teach contraception in school because we can do it better at home!' argument working for you?

I'm torn between leaving comments on and turning them off, but since I believe that my LJ is a form of dialog, I guess I'll leave them on. :) Comment away!

{Reality} {Can I have it?} (RL, FFXI)

Edit: I had to switch to gmail to deal with my LJ comments. Can anyone tell me how to stop it from 'stacking' the comment emails? I keep missing new ones because grouping new comments together. I can't find anything about that in the options/setting area. :/

I'm trying to listen to the RNC, I really really am. It's just the... gah. Fiction? Lack of reality? of this crap makes it unwatchable. One speaker said Palin is more experienced than Obama and Biden put together. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over. Palin said the only reason people are saying she's lacking experience is that she's not a "Washington Elite".

Damned woman looks way too much like Peggy Hill (from King of the Hill), too. Like Peggy crossed with a batshit insane sports mom. Seriously, this woman scares me a lot.

*hits mute* I gave it an honest try.

FFXI! Darned busy day. Turning a mule into a crafting mule is a whole lot of work, and I didn't even finish it all.

-Catsoup started in Jeuno.
-Paid 500K for a pass to Whitegate. Day wait.
-During the wait, ran him on foot back to Bastok. Kicked myself the whole way for not buying an airship pass, but that'd be another 500K and I have too darned many mules with airship passes already.
-Did that Lure of the Wildcats quest, so he could pay to warp.
-Deathwarp to Jeuno.
-"Pick up boarding pass", ha ha. Get knocked on the head and teleported to that laypoint in Woods.
-Sneak/invisibled him to Whitegate under the threat if he died on the way he'd have no way to get there again. (Other than running on foot from Bastok to the ferry in Mhaura.)
-Picked up ToAU mission, turned in badge, sailed to Nashmau.
-Dropped off supplies to finish mission.

Yay locker! Yay access to 300g warp from Bastok! I still need to load him up and take a shipment of moss to the sheep so he can get enough fame to max his gobbiebag.

Amusingly, all this stuff is the hard part. Leveling the craft is easy after all this. :P Only downside of this is that I've done alchemy 1-60 four times now, and I'm about to do it yet again. ; ; Gimme new stuff to do!
